I am a bilingual (Spanish/English) and bi-cultural creative professional with over 20 years of experience in visual communications, brand identity, and advertising. My career spans advertising agencies, non-profits, and academic settings, where I’ve driven impact as a graphic designer, art director, and creative director. I specialize in crafting compelling logos, branding identities, and multimedia content, with expertise in commercial, editorial, and documentary photography that tells authentic, culturally resonant stories.

I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with global brands like Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, Sprint, Chevron, Philip Morris USA, U.S. Smokeless Tobacco CO., John Middleton, HELIX Innovations, and Horizon Innovations, as well as non-profits, delivering innovative visual solutions that elevate missions and inspire action. Trained in graphic design at the Graphic Media Development Centre in the Netherlands, I bring a global perspective to my work, blending creativity, strategy, and attention to detail.

Passionate about serving others, I find joy in documentary photography that shares hope and connects communities. Outside of work, I’m energized by people, coffee, and creating identities that leave a lasting impact. They’re also measured in these small, quiet pauses, where reflection sneaks in. Waiting has a way of amplifying our thoughts. Maybe that traveler is lost in memory, maybe in worry, maybe in nothing at all. But in that stillness, something universal lingers—we’ve all been there, suspended in time, waiting for what comes next.

The path ahead isn’t always clear, but sometimes all we need is a little light to take the first step. With a compact pocketable camera in hand, I’ve discovered the freedom to observe without intrusion. Its size and stealth allow me to blend into the background, turning everyday moments into honest, intimate stories. It’s as close as you can get to being invisible—watching life, and letting it reveal itself naturally.

A quick walk through Grapevine’s Historic Main Street District

During one of my photographic journeys, I had the privilege of meeting a truly fascinating individual, Sinatra “Frank” Johnson Gilbert. This encounter underscored for me one of the greatest privileges of carrying a camera: the opportunity to connect with extraordinary people whose stories might otherwise go untold.

Frank is a talented wood sculptor who creates unique, one-of-a-kind pieces from hardwood. His work is not only a testament to his skill and creativity but also his resilience and generosity. Frank derives his income from his carvings, which serve as both his livelihood and a means of supporting his disabled brother, with whom he lives and cares for.

I met Frank at the Rusty Fish store, a remarkable establishment that showcases art made from recycled materials. Beyond its artistic offerings, the Rusty Fish store serves a higher purpose: it supports 60 local families by providing them with an avenue to earn a living and sustain their households.

In addition to its array of recycled artwork, the store boasts the finest selection of locally made wood carvings, including Frank’s creations. Visitors can also find local stone carvings, paintings by talented artisans, and handmade jewelry. Every single item in the store is crafted on the Island, ensuring that each purchase is not only unique but also a direct contribution to the livelihoods of local artists and their families.

The Rusty Fish store exemplifies how art can transform lives—not just for those who create it, but for the community it supports and the individuals who have the chance to take home a piece of its story. Meeting Frank and learning about his journey reminded me of the power of human connection and creativity. Through his carvings and his commitment to family, Frank’s story is an inspiring reminder of resilience and the impact of supporting local artisans.
